ABOUT THE INDUSTRY

Ontario’s unionized industrial, commercial, and institutional (ICI) construction sector is comprised of 25 different trades. Each trade specializes in a different set of skills and abilities that are required to build Ontario’s infrastructure.

UNIONIZED TRADESPEOPLE

At the OCS we work in partnership with the Employee and Employer Bargaining Agencies from the 25 trades which make up the ICI sector. These agencies bargain on behalf of local unions and their contractor partners throughout Ontario to negotiate a fair wage and package that suits both workers and employers and strengthens the unionized construction industry accordingly.

Unionized tradespeople have built iconic state-of-the-art buildings throughout Ontario for hundreds of years, and are the preferred choice for large-scale, complex construction projects.
